Save the Elephants Event in Malibu May 10th, 2014

We were fortunate enough to be one of the vendors for the first Save the Elephants event held this past Saturday, May 10th, in Malibu, California at the La Villa Contenta on Pacific Coast Highway.

Save the Elephants has paired up with the Wildlife Conservation Network to create the Elephant Crisis Fund to address the current ivory problem. The Elephant Crisis Fund supports critical field projects to save Africa’s elephants from the ongoing ivory crisis. The rate at which elephants are being killed off is alarming. It has been said that at least 33,000 elephants, and possibly more, are being killed each year just for their ivory husks. The goal of this organization is to identify projects that address anti-poaching, anti-trafficking, and demand reduction.

The event on Saturday which supports these efforts by allowing guests to make donations to the cause was a success. With close to 300 guests, over $2 million was raised. These funds will be used to support the field projects to save the elephants.

As for the event itself, it was spectacular! A-1 Event Rentals provided beautiful, hand-made wood banquet tables along with bamboo folding chairs which fit perfectly for the event style. Tables were decorated with a burlap table runner and multiple vases of succulents. While A-1 Event Rentals provided the kitchen equipment and tent to serve the family style entrees, Malibu Farms provided the exquisite cuisine.

The entertainment was a live band that performed all evening on the stage that A-1 Event Rentals provided as well. An open air photo booth was also provided for the guests enjoyment. A few A-list actors and actresses were also present for the event to support the cause.
